Sport mode

Is there any way I can keep my truck in the mode all the time and normal when I want? I jut usually drive around local and sport mode makes me smile. I have put about 25K miles on this truck since I bought it three years ago, currently it has about 51K and so far absolutely no issues. I did lower the suspension a bit, added a flashpaq chip and larger take off tires and wheels. I also installed a 4:10 rear gear. This truck is the naturally aspirated V6, (forgot what size) runs really good. I would just like to lock it in Sport Mode.

I don't recall seeing a walk-through or video on it, but a few have reported doing this by using programmed electronic time delayed relays.
They are triggered by the ignition and pulse the tow/sport switch a couple of times to make it go into sport mode a few seconds after the truck is started.

If I remember correctly it is possible. I don't remember if it was Forscan or an aftermarket plug in piece.

I investigated and there is no way through Forscan. There is another method mentioned above that involves relays, the only post I could find on it is here: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/defau...please-439320/

Forget about a work around and just take the few seconds needed to put it in Sport mode when you start it up.

Just one more thing to remember to press after start ... wish drive modes and Auto S/S would latch between key cycles.

Even better if said functions could be programmed from and in the settings menu like some other functions.
I wonder if accelerated engine and transmission wear is a byproduct of keeping the transmission in Sport mode.
I’m sure the mileage does and will suffer some.

Why is it people think just because you are in sport mode means you're driving like a bat out of hell? One can have it in sport mode and still drive normally. Heck, if that's the case with accelerated wear, then I'd have to say my tune will cause accelerated wear. I can't remember the last time I used sport mode after doing the tune, whereas before the tune it stayed in sport mode.

I think you're right

It looks like it may have to do with the overall fuel mileage mandates that the manufacturers have (CAFE standards). By allowing the truck to stay in sport mode indefinitely, the fleet's overall average lowers somewhat. When they don't meet the mandate, hefty fines ensue.

CAFE wiki

Just a guess tho

Well, I’m not sure who said it so perhaps you should take it up with them but it sure wasn’t me who said that one is driving like a bat out of hell when the transmission is in Sport mode.

With that being said, any vehicle that has the ability to raise it’s performance regardless if it’s a stock system or by means of an aftermarket tune or parts such as a different gear in the axel assembly, it might be negligible but accelerated wear is a byproduct and is expected.

I drove around for a couple weeks in sport mode and mileage dropped around 2mpg during that time. Since then it has gone back up in normal mode.
