Third Rear Brake Assembly Easy to Replace?

Is the third brake light assembly for the rear of 2003 Ford Expedition easy to replace?

It has one bolt on each side and the rear windshield nozzle passes through on the right side. It has 4 or 5 bulbs in it but bulbs can not be individually replaced. I am fairly tool saavy and have replaced single bulbs on this same vehicle several times. I see Dorman appears to make a replacement assembly. I wonder if it is just a matter of removing the two bolts, somehow getting the nozzle through the assembly, and unplugging an electrical harness. Hopefully there is no wire soldering that has to be done. There are just two working bulbs left in your third rear brake light assembly. I've owned this vehicle since new and have had it for 16 years.

Thanks,
Todd

Yes. You can pick up an LED aftermarket replacement for about $30 over on Ebay. You will have to re-use the spray nozzle though. It just pushes out from the backside.

I've individually replaced the lights in my 2003 3rd brake light. Take out the 2 screws and separate the red lens from the base.

ok thanks for the tip... wonder if it is just as easy to replace with newer LED technology the whole strip than just an individual bulb(s) in the original OEM incandescent strip.

Thanks

The LEDs are brighter and won't burn out. It's a new piece of plastic up there as well, rather than the old sun baked piece.
