I have a 92 F250, the one in my signature, and I want to remove the power distribution box located under the hood. I have tried but can't figure out how to remove it. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge on doing so?
I need to check underneath it to see if I have corrosion built up on some of the connections.
I've only done small blocks, so if this is different , sorry.
It's held by clips that hold it to a frame bolted from under the fender well.
You need 4 pocket size flat head screwdrivers to hold back the clips to free it from the frame.
It's 100% made to the main harness. There's no separating it from the harness.
You'd need to pull the main connector at the ECU & the cab connector as well as the connector leading to engine (c103) with the bolt that holds it to the box it's self.
The clips that hold c103 to the frame is easily broke & it's a trick to get it loose.
That might give you enough slack to flip the box over and work actual parts that hold the guts in the box.
If you have cruise, it helps to take it loose.
All this is off the top of my head, I probl'y missed something.
If there's one handy in a yard, you might want to go practice.
I've got one loose right now with the box sitting on the core support & can look better tomorrow.
I went to the JY yesterday and checked out how to pull the power distribution box. Now I know how to get mine out so I can look for corrosion. Thank you once again, the suggestion was a huge help.
