VIN Decode for title reconstruction, please?
Hi Bill, We have spent too long combing through VIN decoding posts to decode this plate. Here's what we think we know now:
It's a LN750 Gas 1977 391 4V FT engine 7000# w/Power steering front axle Seattle office special order
We are trying to get a title rebuilt for it and the office needs the correct year. We may possibly try to make it live again, as it has sat since 1998
Many thanks for your assistance!
VIN plate for a Ford 750 gas truck, mid-70s, I believe
Hello, I posted elsewhere on this site, but somehow it appears to have fallen through the cracks of the ethernet. Could you please decode this VIN plate? Many thanks
Part of the problem with decode requests stems from duplicate requests. Stand by, it can be a wait.
Your posts are merged, and this post bumps you to the top.
Good luck with your truck!
F = 391 4V
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
O31505 = 1977.
148" Wheelbase.
C = Pure White.
N754 = LN750 (gas), 25500 lbs. GVWR
??8: First two digits very hard to read. If the 2nd digit is a B = Black all Vinyl (regardless of what the 1st digit is) / I think the 3rd digit is an 8 = 81A Standard Cab.
L = Transmatic (Allison model AT-540) Automatic Transmission.
- -M: First two digits is the rear axle code, but there aren't any because the axle was a DSO / M = Ford 7,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle with Power Steering.
25,500 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
740708:
74 = Seattle WA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
0708 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
Rear axle was not a RPO (Regular Production Order), so whatever rear axle that was installed is the reason for the 6 digit DSO number.
You'll have to do some detective work to find out what it is, the DSO records were discarded years ago.
But, it doesn't look like an M either. I just got new glasses, but tried the old pair on to see if it made a difference. No.
