This post finally motivated me to get some parts of my own on order. I've got some Molex pins coming in so I can pin out the tailgate side connector for the light wires and then a pair each of warm white and neutral white LED Bolt lights, that way I can see which color temp is closest to the OEM color. I'm excited!
That's what they're called, molex pins! Yeah, wish I would have had some the right size, the ones I had were too big. You need female molex pins on the tailgate side.
Did it! Used "Neutral White" LED Bolt lights from Oznium and added the pins to the OEM connector. While everything works exactly how it should, I have lost the guidelines on my reverse camera that move with the steering wheel as well as the ZOOM function. I had this issue with my truck the first few days I owned it where those lines were intermittent, but it's never been an issue since. Of course, now that I've messed with the connector for the camera it seems to rear it's head again. Not sure if the issue is caused by the changes I made or not, only way to know for sure is grab a new harness and check it. Ah well. Camera itself works fine and so does the rest of the reverse sensing system, but who knows. I'll troubleshoot when I have a new harness. If the harness isn't the issue, truck's under warranty and I'm not worried. Anyway I am happy with how the lights turned out and the color seems to match OEM pretty well! Thanks for the motivation!
