Ok I have a 1993 Ford F-150 with a 302 in it. Recently my waterpump died. So I replaced it. But now my truck is leaking more water then before. So I decided to replace the gaskets. Now when I ordered the parts they said there should be 2 gaskets. 1 from the pump to a plate and 1 from the plate to the block. I don't remember seeing any plate. My question is, is the parts guy wrong or is my truck missing peices?
Are you sure that the leak is coming from the pump? not from a poorly connected hose or loose hose clamp?
The plate I think they are talking about is the timing cover. I am assuming that you did not remove the timing cover.
there is also some pumps that have a removable rear cover that has a gasket as well, but usually they come sealed from the MFGR. Check all the connections, under and over all of the hoses you disconnected, top sides and bottom of the water pump to find exactly where the leak is.
