Not sure if anyone else has dealt with this or if it's just an isolated deal with my truck. Just bought a 2016 with 43K miles. It has the heated and cooled seats which sound wonderful but I'm finding them to be very uncomfortable for longer periods of time. It seems like the back half of the seat bottom has no support and all my weight is resting on my thighs. This makes my thighs and lower back hurt badly after about an hour. I've resorted to sitting on a folded up towel but that isn't a permanent fix for a truck that sold for $50K new.
After closer examination it seems like there simply isn't enough support in the section where the air blows through the seat. I can feel a definite drop off about halfway back on the seat. I was planning on taking it to an upholstery shop next week but wanted to see if there were other options available.
I have owned two trucks from this generation, and haven’t had any issues. I find the seats to be very comfortable, but that’s me, and I understand they may not be comfortable to everyone else.

Have you tried to adjust the seat with the controls?
If that doesn’t work, perhaps the seat 💺 foam is worn out from the previous owner. The bottom seat foam can be purchased from Ford parts.
OK, two people now have suggested adjusting the seat using the power controls. I'm not a complete retard. To both of you, thanks but no thanks.
I know it sounds like "is it plugged in" kind of tech support, but it took me quite a while to get my 2018 Lariat seat adjusted and I had much the same complaint that you do.
There's something about how the seat moves in response to the controls that I just could not get dialed in right. It took a 19-hour cross-country drive to get it right.
I also find the seats to be uncomfortable. They hardly hug me at all, the bolsters are weak. Compared to the expedition and fusion of the same generation, my seats suck.
Yup, it does. That's exactly what I said. I guess you prefer slightly different words saying the same thing.
Are you like this to everybody or am I just lucky? I'm beginning to remember why I left this forum 14 years ago. Seems not much has changed.

Not that anyone cares but I stopped by a very good local upholstery shop today. The owner kept saying he really couldn't tell me much until they got the seat out and apart. I finally convinced him to get in my truck and sit in the seat. Once he sat in it he instantly agreed that it was way wrong. The lack of support in the back half of the seat makes the lumbar support hit too high on your back, throwing everything way out of whack. I have an appointment to drop it off Tuesday. Now that the shop owner sees and feels exactly what is wrong, I'm confident he will fix it. Identifying the problem is half the battle.
The same shop has done work for me on other vehicles in the past. If anyone in central Florida needs a good auto upholstery shop, talk to Don at Maitland Auto Upholstery.
