Trying to bring back this old work horse. 1976 F250. Got it past the AZ state emissions but I don't have any windshield wipers. I checked the switch and it has power and does supply power to the motor but the motor doesn't move. I finally found the motor under the dash in the middle but I can't find or see any bolts or other attachments to remove it. Any help on how the motor is removed would be greatly appreciated. I forgot how much I enjoyed driving the old boy. It has a rebuilt 360 V8 with the granny low 4speed. Thanks for any help. .
Looks like 2 bolts on the other side of the wiper bracket
Here's an excerpt from some of the Ford Shop manuals for 78-79 trucks, that I bought on CD ROM on Amazon for $35, Its definitely been worth it, it even has tests you can do to tests the wiper system. Using the shop manuals I was able to test, verify, and reconnect my speed control and get it working
here's a picture of my wiper motor, the if you reach around the bracket I can feel the bolt heads on the other side
It looks like the heater air box is in the way of the mounting plate for the wiper motor. Does this sound right or has the heater box come apart? I think I will remove the heater box as it looks as if some of it has broken and the tray that has all the wiring going from the left to the right has come down as well. I will let you know what i find after i get it all out. thanks for the layout and pictures of yours.
Had the same issue on my 77. Did some internet research and found a blurb stating that sometimes these motors lose their ground. On mine, I ran a jumper wire from the case of the motor to a ground point in the cab. Motor started working and has been since that time. Might be something to try before pulling out the motor.
I will try the grounding first because I have read only 8 volts using the dash as ground sometimes. I do think I may have some rust on grounding locations so I will try. I still do have to remove the air box because it appears to be coming apart. Thanks for the suggestion.
