My truck is a
1977 Ford F-150, 4x4 has a stock 351 M engine. Has had no mods done to it at all from what I can tell. If I am reading the numbers right color code Indio Tan, Tan vinyl interior, C-6 automatic transmission.. Model 203 Transfer Case.. 9 inch rear end, front 4x4 am not too sure about, I think a Dana 44?. I bought the truck for 800. It runs and all the gears work. It has been sitting for years, was bought by po at a home auction. The truck came with extra transfer case, and another part that I honestly dont know what is. The bed is eaten up with rust, and I will most likely have to replace both floor pans. I have named my truck "Goober" after my older brother. He died of cancer a couple of years ago that was one of his nicknames. He is the one that got me into liking the 73-79 fords, he had one or another for as long as I can remember. This project is to keep me busy,I had a back surgery that went bad so I am crippled for life. I have a pretty good "team" backing me up though, my wife, daughter, son, and several other people. Doing things safely and within my realm of actually being able to do is important. Truck has a lot of surface rust on the frame. (I plan on doing a frame up restore). Letting my "team" have a lot of input on exactly what we are doing to keep them interested. I have replaced the passenger fender 50.00 and picks up another long bed that has pretty good sides but some bed rust for 200.00. I am far from being a mechanically inclined but used to help my brother a lot on his trucks growing up just being a sidekick and tool handler. Purchased a full set of shop manuals.
Have been scouring the boards since I bought the truck, do not have a unlimited budget, however I really want to keep it simple anyway, but have a few ideas to make it a little different. My main thing is that it has to be dependable as this will be my daily driver/fishing truck not looking to make it a hot rod. Glad to be here Officially. Sorry for the long post, but one final thing, All you guys who drive stick shifts...ENJOY IT, cause if you every have to give it up... IT IS NOT PLEASANT. My new truck
