Forgive my ignorance, but I am learning as I go. I have a 1969 F100 with a Ford 360. What is the plate/riser (don't know actual name) under the carburetor that has an intake for coolant on the left side and possibly a vacuum line connection on the right side as you look at it from the front of the vehicle called? Where can a replacement be purchased? Thank you in advance.

Most people remove the Heated spacer plate, and replace with a plain spacer plate. The idea behind the heated spacer plate was to prevent the carb from iceing up in cold weather. But in the summer most of us have found that the plate contributes to "perkcolating" (or boiling) the gas out of the carb fuel bowl, after the truck is turned off. Then the engine has a hard time starting the next time. While the composite ones are the better choice ( they don't transfer the heat from the intake manifold) many have used metal ones just fine. You can find them at your local parts stores, or places like Summit Racing.com. If you decide to remove the Heated spacer plate, then you need to change how the heater hoses are running by replacing:

your local parts store should have this.

Thank you so much for providing such a thorough answer to my question. I think I will remove the heated spacer and replace with a solid spacer. Thanks again!
