Flareside Tail Lights

So when I purchashed my truck it just had cheap trailer lights on the rear brackets with no reverse light. Does anyone make a factory set or would I just have to hopefully find a set of them?

I have found lights like these on Ebay, and they seem to match but aren't quite the same:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Truck-....c100752.m1982

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Truck-...kAAOSwBmpbOpfP

Any insight would be great, I would love to gain reverse lights again, and have the truck look more factory.

Or if anyone has a set of factory lights and brackets they could spare I would happily purchase them for a decent price. My brackets are not the straightest anymore.

You had 2 trailer lights on your truck? You are lucky I only had 1 and it was mounted up on the top of the bed side, no stock brackets.

IIRC the only thing I found thru LMC is 1 lens nothing else ..... but LMC does have LED lights for $80 ea.
Or you go for what you found and fix the stock brackets.

I would like the LED's but the $$ is much. I do have 2 or 3 sets of trailer lights and for a back up light thinking of something like GM did with a small round one under the tail light.

Don't know what I will do yet.

Yep good luck finding them. I got the left and right part number saved as a ebay search to email me when some come up. I keep getting hits but its some guy listing a GM/Jeep style tail light that isn't correct by the ford part number.

The original Flareside tailights were made by Grote and as you've found are no longer available.

Grote still makes a replacement light, but it is not 100% identical to the originals. Have a look at the Grote 52972 below. The Ford part numbers it replaces are listed there.

https://www.grote.com/products/52972...il-turn-lights

It has incandescent bulbs and the correct plugs for the original Ford wiring harness. At a glance, they will look original.

The main differences are...

1. The new lights have what they call a license plate light (a clear lens at the bottom of the housing). The originals did not have this, the housing was solid black. Some people just paint over the clear lens.

2. The new light has only 2 studs, and the originals had 3.

3. The original lights had side reflectors, so there were left and right lights. I believe the new one is universal fit, left OR right.

Otherwise they're pretty much the same. Only a real Flareside fanatic would notice the difference, and you could probably buy rectangular red reflectors to stick on the sides of them for a 100% factory look.

These would be available from any shop that sells Grote products...most heavy truck shops for sure, and presumably the auto parts stores.

One of these reflectors below might fit on the side of the housing for a 100% factory look...

Probably be better to go with an illuminated reflector as the tail light reflector was illuminated by the tail light on the original one.

Yes, you sure could do that if you wanted to. I personally wouldn't bother, only because I wouldn't want to put a hole in the housing and deal with splicing wires and mounting a light on the light (so to speak).

Grote does make a 3 bolt light I thought looked close to stock and would work.
Can't remember if I took down the numbers or not but was 2 different part numbers so left & right lights. Don't think it had a plug as I am not using the stock rear harness.

This is on ebay right now.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-1977-1...frcectupt=true

Its the correct part number for the right tail light. Might be of some use for you. Im still holding out for getting notified of a NOS one to put up till I get my flare side repainted.

Part number for the left tail light is E0TZ-13405-B

This has been incredibly helpful everyone, I will probably just go for the Grote tail lights that were mentioned or a set that at least look correct. Original would be nice, but is not entirely necessary.

E0TZ-13404-B: Another clueless ebay seller. This is a right tail light for a 1980/87 F100/150 Flareside.

It is not correct for a 1976 Flareside, nor a 1977/79 Flareside.

D7TZ-13404-B is the right tail light for a 1977 F100/250 Flareside from serial number O20,001 & 1978/79 F100/250 Flareside

That's what I am dealing with I keep getting notified by ebay of a new listing for the correct part numbers for my '82 and they turn out to be either mislabeled used parts which I don't want as I have two used ones on my truck now or they are GM/jeep ones that has no side reflectors and they have the license plate light on the underside.
