Brake service interval

I have failed to check brake pads close enough and started to eat a rotor. All 4 corners are worn out at 45k. What are others getting from original OE brakes?

I use my truck mostly for towing and hauling so perhaps less miles than those who are always unloaded. I replaced pads on my 2000 F250 at 80k and they had 50% left. My dad has a 2003 at 80k and is at 70% left. I tow and haul the same stuff with 2014 as I did with my 2000. Same big tires and driving style.

Are the 14+ pads this much more aggressive that service interval is less than half as much?

For those who do your own brake job what brand/parts did you use? Was going to get Motorcraft pads/rotors BRF1456, BRF1563, BRRF1221. I see there are high performance options available.

Use the prefix BRSD, they are better than the standard and handle towing better.

Something isn't right. Normally, the front pads/rotors wear out well before the rears do. A lot of guys, even towing, are getting much closer to 80K than you are.

60K miles on my 2015 CC PSD 4X4, brakes look like 70% left. I tow a lot. Original brakes on this truck, but on my last truck, I used motorcraft padd etc, from rockauto.com. Competitive on their pricing and cheaper than the dealer parts dept.

Got 48K before the fronts needed replaced. 56K and I just did the rears. Mostly towing miles.

I did fronts at 35k and rears at 38k. Both were just about to the rotors. Probably 1/3- 1/2 miles towing. But when not towing I generally drive fast and push the truck hard, lots of backroad miles. When it stays above freezing I use tow haul all the time to let the engine and trans help slow it down. I never get good brake life from anything. Replaced with motorcraft pads front and rear. Will need rotors on both ends next go round. 2013 dually.

My fronts were down to the metal at 35k miles and the rears are about 30-40% left. My rig is heavy and it hardly goes anywhere without the Montana hooked on. Main reason I am looking at discs for the Montana. I went back with OEM rotors and pads.

Thanks everyone for the info. Ordered Motorcraft severe stuff from rockauto.
FWIW I use tow haul/mode when towing and blip the brakes to get trans to downshift whenever possible.

One of the reasons I went with the diesel over the 6.2 was I was reading guys towing heavy in the hills were wearing brakes down at only 30k because they don't have engine braking. That and my father-in-law has the 6.2 and knew I'd be happier with the 6.7. But, 45k is early, no doubt. My F150 went at about 50k, towing quite a bit.

I was wondering if you knew, are the severe duty pads made of a different material and will they make a lot of noise? My patrol unit has heavy duty pads because we kill brakes in a pursuit, but they squeal and I hate coming to a stop trying to be quiet lol.

You're a copper, aye? Me too. 24 years now. You guys run Explorers, Tauruses, Tahoes or Chargers?

Whoa! Don't call me out on front of all these people, you'll blow my cover!

When I started we drove Crown Vics. Then we moved on to subdued Chargers and black and white Caprice. Then Explorers, which are by far my favorite. Currently I drive a Tahoe, but I'm an Investigator now so I don't play as much as I did.

Copy that... Love the old school Crown Vics. We have Explorers now. The Taurus was a pain to get into with all the gear on. We had Vics also when I got on in 95. I'll keep this short. Couldn't resist...
