This is on a 1980 ford f100 strait 6 1 barrel carb flairside pickup.
There is this tube which exits under the EGR value and returns to the manifold. Unfortunately it got twisted. Bolts rusted caused this.
Anyway. Does anyone know what this does.
Can I remove it completely?
I am trying to see of this may cause the truck to idle poorly.
Thanks
When it returns to the manifold it got twisted. This is the tube I am attempting to identify

Reason: forgot to enter truck info
The EGR valve stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. That tube is where the valve gets the exhaust so it can put it into the engine via the intake manifold. If your EGR is not hooked up, and you do not have underhood inspections, you could plug that off somehow. You could probably cut it off with a hacksaw near the manifold, smash the end and then fold it over like a toothpaste tube. That is just a idea off the top of my head, someone else may have another better idea to plug it if you do not need it anymore.

Unfortunately it got twisted. Bolts rusted caused this. Bolts have nothing to do with it, because there aren't any.
When it returns to the manifold it got twisted. So what else is new?
This is a very common problem: The tube itself has fittings, they threads into individual fittings that thread into the manifold.
Over time rust causes the fittings on the tube to become rusted to the fittings on the manifold, so when you attempt to remove the tube it twists, may split open.
