I bought this 83 F150 and was cleaning it out today and found a retractable light in the door panel. It has a Ford part number on it. I am not familiar with this and am looking for an education. Where does this mount? Is it rare or something to just toss out?
It mounts on the underside of the hood. It's a factory retractable trouble light. I believe it was part of a lighting group option that also gave you extra lights at the kickpanels under the dash when you open the door, and map lights on either side of the dome light above the seat. They are around, most do not work, but I would not throw it away.

Thanks for the reply. I will hang on to it and might just reinstall it after I finish painting the truck. FYI, I did hook it up to a battery and it does work and retracts fine.

Yep you can find them, they are big with the jeep guys I know. I got one that still is good but I contemplated about taking it apart to restore it as the pig tails were broke almost even with the case and I wasn't happy with how the repair I made looked. Just not sure if I want to risk taking one apart lol.
