I have a 93 F250 4wd with a 5.8. I have an exhaust leak on the driver side behind the exhaust manifold. There is a small pipe that goes toward the center of the truck that has rusted in half. I cant find were it goes. What does it do? Is it needed? How do i get to it to replace it? Thanks
Sounds like the Thermactor pipe connected to the back of the heads. It runs from the smog pump to the pass side head, then to the drivers side head.
It is a very tight fit back there. The only way to access it is from the top. You have to get up close and personal with it. It may be easier to remove the upper intake to give you a bit more room.
I'm having some thermactor issues as well. I just wanted to say how amazed I am at this website and the great people like moneypit who help people like myself and mx495 with our vehicles. Thanks for your help moneypit.
