I visited alot when I was a kid, I had family here. Finally dropped the hammer and moved about 3 years ago. I love it here, minus all the Alcoa Highway construction! Thank goodness I leave for work at 0520 and get home at 1420!!
I'm a newbie from Greeneville area. Recently started a father-son project on a 1951 F1 and looking to get involved in some meets and shows with my 12 year old son.

Welcome!! what are your plan for the truck? Restore, restomod or other?
Welcome!! what are your plan for the truck? Restore, restomod or other?
More of a resto-mod but not building for show. Just trying to make a decent looking old truck with a mix, a bit of modern and old school hot rod touches. Kind of an around town cruiser that does good burnouts instead of a 70 mph interstate cruiser. Imagine a 46 year old and a 12 year old meeting in the middle somewhere and that's the style it will probably turn out being. Main reason for the build is to let my son start learning how to work on cars and trucks and for us to spend time together making memories. Our original plan was to keep the old rusty/rat-roddish look and freshen up the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain. Ran into more rust in places that was hard to work with and ended up buying quite a bit of new sheet metal. We have kept the front end straight axle but had Sid from Nostalgia Sid's/droppedaxles.com make us a 3" drop axle, added posie lowering leaf springs, disc brake kit, and all new hangers, bushings, king pins, etc. and adding power steering via the power steering 400 kit. We stayed straight axle because we wanted to keep as much of the build as possible un-bolt and bolt back together ourselves for the learning experience for my son. Staying with that same idea we did the TCI rear parabolic leaf spring kit which bolts back in the factory locations and switched over to an 8.8" Explorer rear end with 4:10 gears, traction lock, and disc brakes out back also. We have a 5.0 roller motor from an early 90's Mustang GT converting to carb and some healthy upgrades but nothing too crazy and we're mating it to a built C4 trans. We are staying as FORD as possible, just from a bunch of different Fords. I'll try to post a pic if it will let me. The pic is when we had the old rusty body panels mocked up except for the cab which is super solid and white paint which we were planning to do homemade patina to somewhat match the old parts. Now that we have the new sheet metal going on we are undecided about paint color but it will likely be either homemade patina all over or just a basic color from the 50's era and not a super slick show quality paint job.
Looking good, I have a lot of '48-'52 parts if you need anything. The '51 I'm building ( was stalled a few years due to health issues) Is more stock, with a few updates. Because my wife wants to be able to drive it I did put an AOD behind the original flathead V8. I also replaced the front suspension with a Jaguar XJS IFS which is a bolt in assembly. BTW, I see you have '52 hood trim on it. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks so much! I will definitely keep you in mind for parts... We’re always needing something. I hate to hear of the health problems. Hopefully you are back on track or will be soon. Good eye on the 52 hood trim... that is the 52 hood and we’ll probably be using it. It’s in pretty good shape.
I haven't posted here in what seems like forever. I am back, and daily driving my '79. Excited to be here as it's not been driven much in the last couple years so I'll probably need some help soon!
