Sorry I bet this thread has been thrown around in here a lot but I’m genuinely curious.
I ordered a 2019 F350 Platinum in February and it’s estimated to be delivered on 5/6, 40 days from now.
I went through the options at the dealership and thought when going through options I wouldn’t need the Fx4 because I plan on doing lift when it arrives. I added the skid plates.
Trying to figure out what all else I will be missing and wondering if it’s too late to switch the order. It still says processing it’s not in production yet.
Man I really going to regret not having the fx4 package?
I ordered a 2019 F-350 6.7 4wd without the FX4 package. My last two Ford trucks had the FX4 package and I think it’s a waste of money. On the 2019, I did order the skid plates and I replaced the factory shocks with Fox 2.0 and the Fox ATS stabilzer. Much better (and a little pricier) set up than the FX4 shocks.
Different stickers and hill descent control. I dont think you'll regret not getting either. I believe the hill descent control can be added fairly cheap and easy.
Fx4 is not worth white painted shocks that look like Ranchos(which never impressed me anyway). The skid plates are worth the $100 and the $400 you save is best sent to the locking differential.

Do you have the locking rear on your build?
3.55 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio. Although I had some misgivings on which rearend to get as I’m not super techie or automotive. I do tow a bunch of construction trailers for my business and have a fairly
large boat to tow but the salesman said this would be the best ride for what I do. I wanted it to ride like the truck at the dealership but have the ability to tow 15,000 lbs if I needed.
Theres was many options and I was admittedly a little stumped at this.
Hill descent control ONLY comes in to play off-road crawling right? My theory is if you really want it add it later with forscan. In my case though I can't honestly think of a situation where I'd be in a steep enough situation with these big *** trucks to really need it.
2019 4x4 here with skid plates, 6.2, and 4.30 e locker. Already did 1 inch Daystar spacer up front, Fox 2.0 shocks all around, and Fox single steering stabilizer. No reason to start with FX4 if you will lift and want new shocks anyway.

I have a 2019 F350 6.7 with the 3.55 electronic locking rear. It tows my 13,000 lb 5th wheel trailer great. I got the FX4 package. Knowing what I know now I might have skipped it to save a few dollars. But by ordering the FX4 package I didn't have to bolt on the skid plates, nor mess around with adding hill descent to my truck. They used to put cheap white Rancho shocks on the FX4 trucks, but no more. The shocks on my truck are the same as the non FX4 trucks.
You'll never miss it. Even the skid plates can be a pita when trying to access a covered up component under the truck. I did add the switch and activated HDC with Forscan and tried it out on my very steep driveway. It could come in handy in the winter, but I don't know if I trust the tire traction enough in those conditions to try to get down the hill in snow and ice even with the HDC.
Am I really going to regret not having the fx4 package?
I'd say no. You got the skid plates for $100, take the $300 savings, add Hill Descent Control for ~$15 and spend the remaining savings on good shocks. Oh, and if you really want the FX4 decals.....

This is the truth, did the same thing, I pulled off the stickers, ordered the switch, configured with Forscan, added plates on the order. By all means save the money and buy better aftermarket shocks.
I ordered the plates, no FX 4 for all the above reasons. But before I decided I wanted the 20" machined cast wheels my build included the Plow prep/camper package. The camper package adds an overload spring and sway bar which are F 350 bits. I thought that was a good set up. Cost less than the FX 4... but they wont let you bundle that with 20s.

One has little to do with the other. FX4 continues to be one of the most misunderstood option packages out there. FX4 adds:
Skid plates
Hill decent control
Decals
Off-road tuned shocks
Only the last bullet point (shocks) would interact with your decision to get a lift. Skid plates are a $90 option (people keep quoting MSRP, but nobody pays MSRP on a new truck). Hill descent control can be added with a $20 switch and FORScan programming. Ultimately, FX4 is a pretty silly option package at ~$350, though I do think the decals are cool. It also can help with resale because people often equate FX4 with some sort of off-road ready truck ... as if it were the Rubicon version of the Ford truck.
There are only two skid plates, but they are quite expensive to add later. If you think you want them, make sure you order them from the factory.
