Hello. I've owned many Fords, over the years and been a forum member for quite a while, as well. However, this is my first dentside. Just picked up this '77, a few weeks ago. Work started, almost immediately, with new shoes, repop battery tray, '95 wiper arms and door weather stripping, repop fan shroud, and today a new carb. Still have more to work on but it's purring like a kitten. A rumbling, angry kitten.
It's replacing my 2012 F150 FX4, as my daily driver. Looking forward to driving it and taking part in this forum!
Welcome to the awesome world of dentsides. Looks like a good lookin truck. As you probably already know, we love pics here. And as much detail as you can type. A boat load of knowledgeable people here will help with any questions you have.
I, too, gave up driving (and constantly fixing) a late model vehicle, and made my dent side a daily driver.
It is absolutely AWESOME to have a vehicle that starts and runs in any weather, no check engine lights, trouble codes, scanners, sensors or ECMs to mess with. Just turn the key and drive. No better feeling.
Great looking truck! Little soap and maybe some rubbing compound if you don't plan on painting it in the future and that thing would really look sharp. Digging the green on it too.."cough cough" hince my username
What transmission/motor? With Denver potentially on my horizon I'm a little concerned about passing smog (I daily drive my dent too, it's my only vehicle)– do you have to worry about that in Grand Junction?
I loved my FX4. The Coyote is a great engine. I learned to drive in a '72 F100 when I was eight years old and the old iron has always had a special place in my heart.
The '77 is a 351/NP 435 combo. A PO installed a Rough Country 4" lift and I put on the 33x12.50 Dick Cepek Fun Countrys. It also has in frame headers that will be coming off and replaced with repop iron manifolds and a single 3" exhaust. Over here, on the western slope, I don't have to worry about emissions testing. I love the wheels, too. They'll be staying. Sorry. lol
Well, crap. Took the truck in to the shop to get the lights straightened out. I suck at tracking electrical issues. They also found a broken leaf spring. Looks like a set of Alcans is in my near future.
