Stainless Exhaust Systems

Hey people,
How about some input on exhaust systems. Gonna be the Banks Monster or the DPPI. Have seen the Banks, the DPPI looks really nice on the website, but Banks only makes a cat-back. Am kinda torn between the cat-back and turbo-back.

thanks!

Tim,
Check out ATS (advanced turbo systems) out of Utah. I had their 4" s/s exhaust from the turbo back on my 7.3 PSD and it was awesome! The flow thru muffler is a straight shot and made of 304 s/s. It also comes with a monster 5" polished s/s tip. This system fit right up with the same stock hanger system. I ran this exhaust for over 50,000 mi with no problems. This or any other 4" exhaust will lower your EGT especially if you are running a chip. Cost about $900 back then, don't know cost today. Good luck hunting.

Tim,
Was going to buy the Banks system(cat-back) until I read some post on other forums. I think the DPPi will get my vote though, with the turbo back set-up. I am planning on keeping my cat in the attic just in case the greenies turn into meanies up hear in WA and make us have inspections.
Cheers,
Bryce

Sam, If CARB has it's way all diesel pick ups will have the probe shoved up their tail pipe and or a SLAP test. Believe me it is coming was @ a Fire Mechanic's class last April and CARB ( California Air
Resources Board) put on a class on Updated Emission Standards. I asked them about diesel pick ups all that they would say "It is coming" Since CARB
seems to set the standards for the nation and most of the state fall in line w/ CA.

Here in Nevada if your diesel weighs less then 6500lbs it gets smog tested.

What about being grandfathered in?

I would like to think if you bought at a time when you weren't required, then you'd be safe. Kinda like a car that's too old for smog check, they didn't go retro-active on them did they? Also, I will fall btwn. 7 and 8K # so Nevada looks pretty good to me lol.
