You can also use it to flush your power steering system. Same fluid.

Atf is all I put in any power steering systems, just not the type f as it has friction additives.

Some manufacturers actually call for atf too. Have yet to have any troubles, hell my other pickup has motor oil in it as I was out and trying to diagnose a leak I fixed.

Any hydraulic type of oil will work as well.

Hydraulic tractor oil, power steering fluid, and hydraulic jack fluid are all the same stuff.

Many have been known to add a touch of brake fluid to em when they start whining. Brake fluid helps swell seals, lots of people around here put it in their bottle Jack's, mine are full of atf as well

Wait, wut? Brake fluid is water soluble, isn't it?

It does absorb moisture from the air, similar to veggie oil

when the piston seals on the dump trucks start leaking, we put a quart of brake fluid into the 20 gallons of hydraulic oil to swell the seals and stop the leaks.
