airaid v.s. mac

ok, what are the differences in these two intake set ups? pros/cons? anyone have any experience with either one? i can get the mac for about 150 new, and the airaid for 110 used. which way would you go, or would you go a different route?

Thanks for the advice.

Personally, I'd go with the MAC Air Intake over the Airaid. I've never heard of anyone even running an Airaid intake, but I've seen proven results of a MAC bolting up about 7 - 8 hp's. Not bad for an intake IMO.

cool, i guess ill go that route then. it looks like it is the same type of setup. i wonder if i will be able to put a larger cone filter on there. do you think that would harm anything?

Try this:

says it bolt on about 12 hp's! That's pretty rare for an intake.

Mac's is rare in the industry in that they dyno test every application and in most cases can supply dyno charts. We run one on FTE's truck.

webmaster,
did you notice any gains when you added the intake? does it sound any different? can you hear the air getting sucked into the intake?

When you floor it has a very nice sound, like a 4 barrel carb opening up. Really nice. No hissing sound with mine. I got good gains from mid-throttle to high rpm, especially just prior to the 1-2 and 2-3 shift points where the torque used to flatten out.

Hey Ken,

I plan on getting one myself. You have one, or you just tested one? That and the chip are what I have my sights set on getting in the near future! I posted a new topic in the chips forum about it.

Wendel,

Go view my "view user's gallery" please.

I have an Airaid and love it. It look good, it sounds good, it's compact, and I could definetely feel a power increase. I couldn't run the Nitrous without the intake.

View my gallery for engine pictures, you'll be suprised how nice the Airaid looks.
