Recall

I haven`t even got the the letter that the recall is available for my truck yet , but it happened to me twice last week. Really want it done because i`ll be getting the travel trailer out of storage soon.

So this will go away? Even shifts hard in M using "+" to shift between 1 and 2.
So I've driven the truck now for a couple weeks since the work was done. Spent a bunch of time in traffic, stop/start etc. Shifting does seem to be improving to be like it was before.

Ditto.

My truck is back to normal. But, it took a few weeks to occur for the low speed shifting.

See your dealer service guy with your VIN in hand.

Never had any issues and I have 121K on her.
I took my 2011 F150 5.0 4x4 in for the recall reprogramming at the end of March. I always had the hard shift from 1st to 2nd issue; but it was a light "klunk". I mentioned this to the service rep when I brought it in for the recall. He spun me a story of possible causes, and finally ended with, "maybe the reprogramming will help the issue."
Well, It didn't help. It exasperated the hard shifting. It's been almost a full month and the severity of hard shifting has slowly been getting better. It is still a lot worse than it was pre recall programming.
The service rep at the dealership wants me to leave it with them for a day, so his tranny guy can diagnose the issue. Maybe I'm not thinking correctly; but if the issue became worse after a programming upgrade, why would it be a mechanical issue?
I am more inclined to have the adaptive driving tables cleared and starting the learning process over again.
I'm open to thoughts and suggestions.

Looked up the recall 19V-075 on NHTSA site and it is informative. Out of the 1,263,051 vehicles currently under this recall, they estimate 1% will be affected. One of the causes that they point out is corrosion. The lead frame wiring harness into the transmission has been thought to be the culprit before on the forums. Ford has extended warranty way out for that wiring harness. I wonder if areas in the north with a lot of winter road treatment may apply here.

I live in the desert southwest although at high elevation and we do have some winter road treatment. Thinking I'll take my chances with my 2013 5.0 4x4 - the Ford dealers in my area have been a big disappointment for several years now, with the exception of one rural dealer. Not ready to trust any of them to mess up a very reliable truck at this point.

Reading this doesn't make me want to get the reflash done. It's a PITA to waste a day doing this anyway and if it's going to make things worse not better, I'm not sure it's worth it until there is more time to see if they make further revisions or not.

I had it done and the truck was a dog after. I didnt mind the shifting, was more like the tow tune I use. But good lord I didnt remember that much difference stock to custom tow. Got the truck back on a Friday afternoon so had to drive it until Wednesday night with stock program. I assumed they were just changing tranny strategy but must have changed something for engine too, wasn't even fun to drive anymore.

Yeah. After reading this, I'm not sure I want to take mine in either.

Mine is 100% back to normal now.

They had in in the shop less than 30 mins when they did it.

Had mine done yesterday. Brutal 1-2 shift for a bit. Then it completely lost its mind and shifted between 1&2 every second for about 5 seconds and went into 1st with a huge bang that shook the whole truck and then was smooth for rest of the day. Hard shifting again on way to work this morning.

I had the recall done on mine just over a month ago (2011 3.5 EB XTR, live in Ohio) and it was shifting a bit weird for a couple weeks but did calm down. However, it's starting to return to its old ways (feeling like I got rear-ended when shifting from 1 to 2 at relatively low speed and no acceleration). Another thing I've noticed that was a problem before the service and is happening again is some very sluggish acceleration. When this happens it shifts fine but there seems to be no torque, almost as if the turbo isn't doing its job, although I can hear it winding up. After the turbo disengages you can hear it sort of gasping. Turning the truck off and back on completely remedies the issue but it's becoming a more frequent occurrence. I did get the leadframe letter in the mail this week but, candidly, I have no idea what that's about. I'm not getting a CEL or any other notifications on the dash. Should I have it checked out do you think it's something unrelated and has anyone else noticed this sluggish acceleration deal?

Thanks!

I had the recall done on my work pickup and noticed absolutely no differences. Same old truck.
