Fuel tank selector valve leaking.

Hello, so I have a 1989 f250 with the 7.5L 460. I've been smelling gas Everytime I walked past it so I fired it up and got underneath and looked and there was fuel running out of the top of the fuel tank selector valve. Looked up a new one from AutoZone and they got the weird looking one cheap but the doorman one that's $200 looks just like what I have. So my question is, is there a way to fix my selector valve or should I just replace it?

Can you post a photo of your valve so we can see what type you have?

The very top of those valves is sealed with the rubber diaphragm that operates the valve switching.
When they leak most of the time it is the "O" ring seal for the cup that is on the bottom.
The cup unscrews with right hand normal threads.

It is very hard to get that "O" ring in right where it does not leak. The old "O" ring will stretch or have groves in it. To get another "O" ring order a fuel filter for a 1986 Bronco 2 and throw the filter away and use the "O" ring. Some older valve had filters in them but they dropped that and put the filter on the frame. So yours should not have a filter in it.

No that looks like the wrong one you need something like a:
WIX Fuel Filter Part # 33268
MicroGard Fuel Filter Part # 33268

Both at O'Reilly auto parts.

Note it is possible that the top chamber supply hole/passage is leaking.
See above photo for location.
I have not heard of one leaking at that point.
But if it is there is not gasket at that point and I would guess you would have to put some gasket sealer like the sticky permatex around the hole.
Let dry some before reassembly.

Ol, So I took the top off of it and there was a small hole on the left side on top (on the side where the 4 lines go in). So I got a few obvious questions. Is it supposed to be there? Do I need to cover the little hole with a sealer? Or will have to replace the whole thing? I can't find one much under $200. Can someone recommend an aftermarket one? Only ones I can find have some sort of 6pin plug. The valve I have doesn't have anything like that just the 6 connections for the fuel lines

Did you read post #8 above?
If so is that the hole that is leaking?
Note that is the hole that supplies the fuel pressure to change the valve position to the front tank.
