Compression Test: '03 E350 5.4l Auto

Best way AND easiest way to disable fuel injectors to do the compression test? last time I did this I don't think the fuel system was even hooked up, the fuel rail and injectors were off at the time IIRC.

AALSO: Only one cylinder reporting misfires (#2) ya'll know what a challenge is to pull the COPs & plugs, I just want to pull cylinder #2 get a few readings then pull cylinder #1 to compare, total waste of time or what? ALL other cylinders are reporting zero misfires in the Mode $06 Monitoring.

thanks a ton.

To keep the injectors from squirting, unplug the electrical connectors. But since you are chasing a misfire that you have narrowed down to #2 with a scanner, the logical thing to do is change the spark plug & boot for #2 then scan it again.
While it is apart, check the electrical connectors for the coil and injector to be sure they have power and that the clip locks to hold them connected. It may be a good idea to have a spare new coil to put back on in case the coil is the issue, new coil should include a new boot as well so two birds maybe.

Also, you should keep the same issue on one thread so anyone that might be inclined to help you has all the info without cross referring to different threads.

I know in the Van forum folks will have advice specific to my E350 so I thought I would put my compression test thread in here, let me know if there is a better approach. I wasn't sure if the Van crew frequents the 5.4l Engine Forum...

I actually found a remote starter switch at Harbor Freight today for $10 so I committed to going under the van and rigging that up today. Tested 3 cylinders and got the same exact reading on all three, three separate times so I am hopeful that Cylinder #2 is AOK in that respect.

thanks for the reminder to try a different coil! I already put the original back on the new plug so I will think about what I want to isolate: plug, coil or injector. or decide I don't care just put replacements of each on that cylinder. I could move the coil to cylinder #1 and the injector to cylinder #4 and see if the misfires; disappear, migrate or multiply! hehe
