1992 5.0 Throttle Body Differences

Hey so I’ve been searching around on if anyone knows the difference between a 1992 F150 302 throttle body to a 1994 Bronco 302 throttle body? Ordered a Bronco one on accident and says it won’t fit my 92 F150 even though the picture looks identical.

thanks in advance

I would think so but? Before you try to install it, I would call your vendor and ask them and if it won't fit see what they can do for you.Sandy BTW what is wrong with yours?

There is only a few differences...

On engines that had mechanically controlled transmissions , there is a small detent for the slip cable that connects the transmission cable. It's located on top of the bracket for the accelerator and cruise cables.

The other difference in some TB's is the vacuum line for the Canister Purge Valve located on the passenger side of the Throttle body.

The vacuum line connection(s) is the only difference that I’m aware of. They should all have the post to connect a kickdown cable. Earlier models had two vacuum connections on the driver’s side while later years only had the one on the passenger side.

The bottom coolant line had a crack and was dripping right out of the throttle body side. Thank you for the reply!

Off the top of my head... all the EFI truck throttle bodies are all the same size, bolt pattern and basic design. Edit - The units used on the 4.9 engines are a little bit different casting than those used on the 5.0, 5.8, and 7.5, but they still the same size and bolt pattern.

Early units may not have anti sludge coating on the inside.

They will have small differences depending on application like fuel vapor inlets, linkages and the coolant fittings may point in a different direction. The moving parts can all be swapped between them.

I would think a TB from a 94 5.0 Bronco would work in a 92 5.0 Truck application with no problems...

Are you getting a used part from a JY? There aren't alot of options for new TB's other than BBK and the occasional NOS Ford part.

Wonder how they "re manufactured" it... Hopefully it gets you back on road.

My guess would be similar to a carburetor... repair the throttle shaft with bushings. It’s the only part I’ve had wear out on several throttle bodies.

If you are not in a cold environment, I would just bypass it. On a 302 engine I had do the same thing. Bypassed that coolant line in the TB and never had any issues , but I live in Florida, up north the TB may ice up.
