This week I finally took the plunge and sent the email to get a few questions answered regarding the upgrade from Sync 2 to Sync 3. To my surprise, the response to my email was a telephone call. Answered everything and discussed the process. With personal service like that, I figured what the heck. To be honest, Sync 2 is sooooo S L O W, and just absolute crap (so surprise given the software)! So, order it, payment done (hurts even more with the exchange rate), and now just the waiting game. Well, 3-5 day shipping turned out to be overnight! About 20 minutes for the install and it works! I mean, it just works. Besides the benefit of having Carplay, everything just works the moment you touch the screen. No waiting, counting to three or pushing (hard), it just works the way one would expect with spending this much on a vehicle.
I am so pleased, and it's just like driving a new truck. The price was worth it and would do again in a heart beat!
I did this upgrade as well. Best way to describe it is like going from a flip phone to an iPhone or Android. With Sync 2 you get the distinct feeling that Sync is Sync & everything else is everything else. The integration between Sync 3 and the rest of the world is pretty seamless, almost transparent. I as well was shocked at how easy the upgrade way. Toughest part was getting the GPS antenna stuck to the top of the underneath of the dash. Did you happen to run a USB cable down the side before you put the faceplate back on?
Great analogy Chuck-B! So far, the only thing I would prefer is that the temperature should be displayed on the home screen instead of having to go into Climate. No, I didn't run a USB cable down the side, do you mean an additional USB cable?
