Hello Im looking at cold air induction for a 2018 F150 Eco Boost 3.5 and would like to know what most users are running and what there thoughts are, thanks in advance.
Most of us don’t bother since they are snake oil. There is no reason to believe or evidence the stock design is “restricted”. No OEM is leaving HP or efficiently on the tables these days.
If you want more noise, then go for it. If you’re willing to accept potentially reduced filtering and the risks associated with it, then go for it. If you’re running a big performance tune and the engine appears to be starving for air, then go for it.
What the goal that you have that this CAI will help accomplish?
Until the manufacturers of these things show real before/after numbers (that they would then be held accountable for), the CAI systems don't really help anything except for making more noise. Every example I've seen where someone claims to significantly more power only from a CAI was usually racing on paper and in the rare case they visited a dyno, they never did a baseline and then added a bunch of mods at the same time. You might see 1 or 2HP of gain from a CAI, which is statistically negligible.
Like they all said. No real gains to be found on an otherwise stock engine. They will let you hear the turbos a little better though. The only way it will begin to make a difference is at the upper end of the RPM range.
Now, if you go with an after market downpipe and exhaust, then it will help a little more. Go with a larger throttle body and turbos, combined with a downpipe and exhaust, then you will need the intake. Don't forget a new intercooler if you do all of those mods.
I think motor week just did a show and talked about modern engines and high flow air filters. The info I got was with computer management "more" air wont gain you anything because the computer is only going to send so much gas to burn with that air charge. Here is the link.Air Filters | MotorWeek
No it's such a faint difference it's not worth the effort.
Yep, I tried it and drove it like that for a few days. One would be hard pressed to tell wether it had the vortex pieces in or not. I put them back in because I figured there must be a better reason for them being there other than to silence intake noise.

If you want more noise, go for it otherwise, just keep it stock.
