I have a 2011 Lariat 6.2 and I few people have suggested running 93 octane in it. It is pretty much a stock truck except for a CAI (Airaid) and cat back (Magnaflow) upgrade. No tuner yet, thinking of adding a SCT x4. This truck is not my everyday vehicle (have a company vehicle), I got it mainly for towing our 29ft TT. I was initially running 87 when I got it back in November for about two months, than I started running 93....haven't noticed any real difference myself.
So I am curious to hear what other more seasoned 6.2 owners are running and why!
I run Premium in mine all the time (91 or 92 octane around here). It’s mainly for towing and I only put about 300 miles a month on it so not worried about cost. The manual recommends premium (does not require it) for best performance when towing or in hot weather.
87 octane unless we are in the higher elevations then I use 85.

I will add one thing to this if you decide to use 85 octane, make sure you know where you are going and the elevation you will end up at. If you are going to drop into lower elevations run your tank way down and fill with 87 when available. There are times I don't use my aux tank because of not wanting 85 in the tank but normally when we go up that high it's for long periods.

That's interesting Denny. I run 87 all the time except at higher elevations where I use 89. My logic is that the 6.2 can use extra help at elevation. Go figure huh? I guess it is all good really.
I was in that mind set until last fall when heading east pulling our rig, my mileage was not what it's been I'm the past and when I filled at a Flying J it dropped even more, I started using top tier gas after that and it when back up over what I was even getting before and I could feel a little more power so for a few cents more a gallon I'm staying with top tier if available.
but over 7,000 feet.... air is much thinner.. try running for 5 minutes..
the higher octane... does nothing.. as air is thinner.... and Needs LESS fuel to maintain 14.7 to 1...
fuel injection can not make more air... unless a supercharger or turbo is helping..''
