I've got a chance to buy a 1978 F250 Explorer Supercab shortbed.
Its never been repainted, so I can see very well what I'm dealing with.
It has a little rust in the drip rails, not near as much as my '78 Supercab. plus about a 6" place just above the passengers door.
I am not a body man, don't weld, and don't want to, so is there a sure fire way to correctly repair these areas in this "virgin" truck, to assure the rust won't come back, I will be getting a deal on this truck, so I can spend a little on repairs without breaking the bank. Thanks!
I had the same problem and had my body man take a peek at it...
What he ended up doing is to sand the area (top and bottom) and clean the rail up well, then fill the holes with seam sealer, smoothing it out after it set up. Can't even tell there was a problem there.
This might not interest you, but I had my drip rails shaved off, might not be worth it if its going to be a work truck, but I'm doing a complete mod. job on mine, but worse comes to worse that is an option for you.

You can fix it, and fill the whole area with seam sealer 'til it's flush so it won't hold water and debris. On my new van that's what they did when they built it so apparently they know about the problem
