In the rush when i place my order i said no to the FX4 package.
But forgot to add the Skid plates did happens to somebody??
It is a way to ordered and the part number also?
Thanks
Mario
While I did not get the FX4 package either as I bought off the dealer lot, I did purchase a fuel tank skid plate from someone on this forum that had upgraded to a larger tank. For the transfer case, someone had a thread stating parts needed, so I purchased that. Yes you end up paying more, but at least you don't end up with "Rancho" shocks...
This is what I ordered from TASCA for the transfer case:
Skid plate was fairly cheap and simple to throw on. The fuel tank skid plate wasn’t cheap and appears you’ll have to drop the tank to install it so kind of a pain, so I passed on that.
You don't need to drop the fuel tank for the skid plate. Just make sure you get the correct hardware for it. For instance the correct size "U" nut for the frame.
Good to know not having to drop the tank. The parts diagram is a bit confusing to look at. Maybe somebody will post all the necessary part numbers like they did for the transfer case skid plate
I believe that's the right part #. But you still need to buy 3 other brackets not included with the skid plate. Skid plate comes with 1 bracket welded on.

Has anyone ever actually had a skid plate hit? I've got a soon to be 19 year old SD and have driven in everything but rock crawling, never needed a skid plate.

Once when hunting with my 2005 F150 -- very rocky forest service road and I heard it. Bent the lip of it just a tiny bit ... enough that at resonant frequencies, it would rattle. It literally took me years to figure it out. I lived with it for a very long time, thinking it was the sound of my transmission slowly dying. Finally took it into a transmission shop and they could find no issue. There are about 78 different causes for these rattles from loose exhaust hangers, to heat shields, to rocks trapped in crevices, and on and on and on. I think it was 5-6 years living with the noise until I finally snapped. Spent about 2 hours under my truck with wrenches and hammers. Finally decided that I could replicate the sound with a hammer on one of the skid plates. Yanked it off and immediately saw the very small bend in the lip. Tossed it in the trash.
I ordered a new SD. I didn't order skid plates. It wasn't to save money. ;-)
