Is there a special forum for the F550 chassis Cabs? I'm considering selling or trading my 2017 F350 DRW Ultimate tow for an F550 because I need 8500 lbs of cargo capacity.
Not that I know of but I am about to order one myself. I was trying to wait until my new building was at least started until I ordered it but I took possession of our new 40' gooseneck Friday and quite frankly, it's a whole lot of trailer for my F-350 SRW and our 3500 HD dually. Are you ordering or have you located one on the dealer's lot?
Sounds like we are ordering basically the same truck. I'm sure you are aware of this, but what I found was that this can be kind of confusing. For instance, I tried to order the 26 gallon mid-ship fuel tank but it cant be had in the configuration I am ordering: Super Cab 4x4, Lariat w/ Value Package,& 192" W/B. Some of the payload packages require the 4.88 gears also. Just be sure to go over the order very carefully so as not to have any screw ups. The link is to the reuck I built on Ford's site. The end result is a little different but it is around $64-65k before TTT and the body. Cant be sure what the rebates will be but the information I got was Ford will give you $1500 upfitter money. Good luck and let us know how it goes. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...7&d=1548198045
Yes, the builds look very much alike, however we need the 4 door crew cab and I want the spare tire and Jack. Do you know what the build time is for chassis cab trucks?
That's a nice truck. The only reason we are getting a super cab is for dry storage of fittings and such during transit that are in cardboard boxes. It's a major PITA to get to the customer's place and the fittings box comes apart when you try to unload it. We are getting the spare tire and jack also. I was told the lead time is 8 weeks. I don't know if that's realistic or not, but we can hope. Here's the trailer we will be pulling with it.
Nice looking truck glrret, I hope Golden-ox served you well.
Hey there xxxsherpa, it has been a long time. Yes the Golden -ox has done very well for the limited time we used it. It has about 7600 miles on it, but we bought it to haul a 5th wheel that is not going to happen now. The laws in my State are very unfriendly to people with camper trailers. I will have to pay about $1800 just in excise tax every year just to get it registered. That and the $1850 in excise tax for the truck is just to rich for my pocket, so we have decided to go to a slide-in camper. Plus with a slide-in I can still haul my tag along trailer with side by side or snow mobiles. With camper, fuel, water, passengers, tools, generator, camping gear, and trailer I'm figuring 8000 lbs, that is way more than the Golden-Ox is rated for.
That is some serious money for sure! I hope they don't get you for too much money on the TC. Be sure to show us the 550 when you get it.
There are no tax or registration fees for a truck camper in my State because it doesn't have wheels on the road and the truck will carry the weight on its registration.
I saw somewhere that you could get the full power (consumer) 6.7L on the F-550 as a special order option, as it comes with the commercial derated engine by default.
something to think about.
