The same rust here, it is a shame companys dont care any more! ford used to be proud of their blue engines, chevy their orange. Today, slap it together and out the door. My 2018 f450 went right from, order, [I would not by one off the lot because they were all rusted, block and frame and drive shaft, and, and, and, and!!!!!!!] to dealers lot, to the body shop, to get a proper paint job underneath, 750.00 later it looks good, like ford should have made it in the first place!!!!!!!! Would have cost them an extra measly 50.00 bucks! D... CHEAP A.. COMPANYS!!!!!!!!

I've been in and out of engine plants all across the US for 15+ years now. Never seen any of them with a spray booth for the blocks. If you think it would only cost 50 to wash, degrease, prime, paint, cure every block they make, you have no clue what the production machines in a plant cost. On top of that, the engine plants would then be subject to a ton of EPA requirements for the 'paint shop', that would drive the costs up even more.
The bottom line it looks like ****, not the 50 bucks or your EXPERT opinion!!!!!
The bottom line is some people just always find something to complain about. You're more than welcome to find a truck with a painted block and buy it instead. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it doesn't affect the driveability at all. Lmao!
I'm pretty sure my Cummins 6.7 had a painted block, as I never noticed it being this rusty. It's the first thing I noticed when I put the truck on my lift to check it out.
Is my truck the only one that didn't get a painted block? The entire engine is coated in rust. Seems a bit ridiculous.
Ever heard of surface rust?
Very common and not unusual.
The same thing will happen to various items under your truck and this is no different than the brake rotors rusting after they have been exposed to water.
