Forscan has just enabled licenses to be purchased. They have 1, 3, 5 and Lifetime available. A lifetime license is $50 USD and goes down by $10 for each. Just an FYI as I've been waiting for this... gets old renewing the license every other month... go out to make changes aaaand nothing. Crap, forgot to renew the damn license.
Good to hear. Been thinking about buying this. Just haven't had time to go through the long thread. Whats the current best device that everyone has been using now?
$50 is a no brainer for me. If I had paid a dealer to make the changes the Forscan guys have provided the means to do I would have paid for 4-5 lifetime licenses. Likely more and that is assuming a dealer would even attempt it and I would let them. Lol.
So for the lifetime license, is it just for one device? What happens if that device goes belly up? Can the license be converted to another device?
One device per license. Most software vendors will swap it over for you if you ask nicely. If you know you're going to decommission a device there is a button available in the About menu to deactivate the license. Once you do that you can install the license on the new machine. Sometimes the licenses are based on the ID of the disk drive. So moving the disk to the new machine may be an option.

Windows laptop to run Forscan. Then follow the instructions for the OBDII device found in the Forscan spreadsheet that you'll find in the official Forscan thread in the 2017+ subforum. Don't think you can skimp and buy a knockoff OBDII adapter. Buy the exact adapter recommended or you'll be sorry.
Do you have to uninstall and reinstall FORScan to get it to activate? I downloaded a new copy and reinstalled it but it still will not open the activate button. (grayed out)
OK, got it, I had to uninstall so it would accept the new licence. All is good, thank you
I installed the new version right over the top of the old version without uninstalling first. The new version had the button for the activation, the old version (maybe 18 months old) didn't have the activation button.
