Thanks for the heads up. I'm waiting on a control module to come in then I will be changing my steering wheel to a Raptor one with both heat and paddles (my truck currently has neither). It's going to require some Forscan changes, so I'll be getting my feet wet with it soon.
If you uninstalled could you save the original back ups of your modules?
A. I would hope that the uninstall wouldn't touch those.
B. You should be keeping them separately anyhow. Mine are on a thumb drive dedicated to only Forscan backups.
Good to hear. Been thinking about buying this. Just haven't had time to go through the long thread. Whats the current best device that everyone has been using now?
Forscan has just enabled licenses to be purchased. They have 1, 3, 5 and Lifetime available. A lifetime license is $50 USD and goes down by $10 for each. Just an FYI as I've been waiting for this... gets old renewing the license every other month... go out to make changes aaaand nothing. Crap, forgot to renew the damn license.
I would be happy if they would just respond to my wanting to purchase the Lifetime and sign up. It has been over a week and NOTHING yet.
they are not able to receive US payments.......problems with US banking systems targeted to Russian entities
the email says all you can do is down load the 2 month free license.
Odd….I would have thought that FORscan would be a US company. Unless I’m reading your message above, incorrectly. I’m a US based business owner….so I would have thought this would be an easy purchase.

my understanding is that forscan is owned by a Russian entity and right now there are embargos against Russia.

It would be nice if an American company saw an opportunity here, and I'm not sure why there isn't one already. Surely it can't be that hard to create the software, right? Is it possible that it's not being done because car companies are not okay with it? Just wondering.

I’m sure there are many options avail, but if you use them, would we be circumnavigating and embargo…
I don’t want 10 agents knocking on my door looking for squirrels

I suspect that there is a tremendous amount of research that goes into looking through the Ford systems to find out how things work. I doubt that Ford has provided any assistance to the FORScan developers.
All it takes is one wrong assumption of how things work and FORScan could brick the on-board computer.

Agreed, and part of their reasoning has to be liability, but that's a whole different topic. I'm not an electrical engineer, and I never wrote the software, but I am somewhat familiar with PLC programs used to control coil processing lines. One thing I do know is when end users made changes without discussing it with our (OEM) engineers, unintended consequences could make things go sideways in a hurry. I'm not trying to be an alarmist because it's apples to oranges, but unintended consequences with heavy machinery can be deadly. I'm also not hating on anybody for using Forscan, just explaining one of the reasons why I'm still on the fence about it. I guess you could say I'm too chicken to change programming without some OEM blessing.
