Fuel sending unit

Looking to buy a good reliable and accurate fuel sending unit for my 1949 f1 flat head 6. I recently purchased one in the past 2 months from eBay that said it fit my vehicle and when I received it the sender bolt holes did not match up with my tank, so I had to drill holes on the plate so it would be able to fit the bolt pattern on my fuel tank. Now the sender does not work accurately and I opened it and it looks like someone took a lighter and melted part of the inside where the small thin wire wraps around. Obviously a cheap product now I was hoping you all could point me in the direction of a good fuel sending unit that would come with some type of gasket as the brand new one from eBay came with garbage and my whole cab smells strongly of fuel for some time now and I’m sick of it. Appreciate the help.

Why not try one of the trusted suppliers for our trucks (Dennis Carpenter, LMC, or MidFifty)? I try to avoid buying any repro parts for these things off of ebay unless it's from one of those suppliers.

There are several available NOS, but you have to use your original float rod and float.

Where did you all get your fuel sending units and how well do they work? Did you all have to modify them to fit your tanks?
