Hello fellow Ford fans, this is my last resort before I guess I have to go to the dealer, my airbag light started blinking what appears to be a code "32" also when this started, my horns also quit working, ive called several garages but with no luck ive also called 3 Ford dealerships, but they act like they dont care to tell you anything, ive checked all fuses and relays, no problems there, ive replaced the horns to to rule them out, nuthing there either, i bought a code scanner and hooked it up, all I get are codes "1-1-1", which means all is well, but i dont think it has anything to do with the airbag circuit, Ive taken the steering wheel collar off right behind the steering wheel to check for loose or broken wires, didnt see anything there, i can handle the airbag not working, but I need my horn to work for inspection purposes, does anyone have any ideas ? I`m on my last resort before I have to take it to Ford dealer and get raped.
any ideas would be appericated.
The condition you describe is almost always due to the clockspring being broken. This is the wiring harness that transfers power up and thru the steering wheel to the air bag, cruise and horn. Have you checked to see if the cruise is also dead? It does require removal of the air bag and steering wheel for replacement and is definitely not a job for most diy'rs. If you feel comfortable with this kind of repair it is not that bad.

Gotta love the clock springs. I'm on number three in my 94 right now. If you look in the archives, you should be able to find instructions on how to replace. Just remember to have the battery disconected for at least an hour so that the airbag will not deploy...
Thanks to everybody who has responded to my problem, I contacted 2 of my local Ford dealers for prices tp repair it, one of them wanted $400.00 and i thought id better try to fix it myself, but the other one was only $205.00 to fix it, so i guess i`ll go on and let them do it and not take a chance on blowing the darn airbag up, lol, i can just see that now, thanks alot people.
I replaced mine last summer. I have a 94 F150. The replacement part had a new part number. Make sure they give you the latest version at the dealer. Mine cost $120, so $205 for someone else installing it seems like a fair deal. Be careful about getting a replacement from a junk yard. It could be defective like yours (or will fail soon). There are past posts on this site which give instructions. Good luck.
