Airbag, Horn, Cruise, & ABS all on the blink
Hey all-
I've been doing a lot of research here. Thanks in advance for all the great advice that always gets passed around. Here's why I'm here today.
First off:
1994 E-150 Waldoch Conversion Van, 135K
5.0 Automatic, 3.55? gear ratio
Airbags
Daily driver for wife, so I don't see the insides very often.
I'm trying to get a few nagging things wrapped up before I take a 1,500 mile vacation in about a week.
Maybe eight months ago the horn and cruise control quit working. Not sure when it started, but the ABS light flashes as well. I believe it is a code 32 (three flashes, short pause, two flashes, longer pause, three flashes, etc.) All the fuses, underdash and under hood, seem to be fine. All brake and tails lights work as well.
This would be the clockspring, correct? I do not have the correct puller (would need to purchase or rent one) and have never done a job like this before. Is this something that can be done correctly the first time or am I better taking it to a local shop?
Also, is there anything else I should look for first before digging into the steering wheel? (myself or a shop)?
Lastly, I'm not sure if these are related. If not, I can start another thread. My ABS light came one and stays on. From these forums, I gathered that it could be junk accumulating around the sensors or a defect in the light itself? I've read that most just leave the light on and not worry about it. If the ABS doesn't work, I should get it fixed since my four favorite people use this van everyday.
Any suggestions here?
Thanks again in advance! I appreciate the help.
Chris

Replacing a clockspring

Now to find a steering wheel puller...
We're off on our trip today, so it will have to wait until I return. Thanks for the advice.
