Caster Shim/Axle wedge dimensions.
Caster Shim/Axle wedge dimensions.
I am in the UK and some small parts are just not cost effective to ship over what with Customs having a minimum charge as well as tax, duty etc.
Cas in point i need some 4 Degree Caster Shims for my 56 but am unwilling to pay three times the cost for them.
Does anyone have loose ones they can measure for me as | can easily get some made?
Thanks very much.

I have a 6 degree shim loose at home. I also have a 4 degree shim in the axle.
I will do some measurements when I get home. My truck is a 55, but I would assume the axles are the same.
Here is a link with pictures of my shims: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...postcount=1568
I think they are 1 3/4" wide, 4" long. If my math is correct a 4 degree shim would be about 0.28 inches high (7.1 millimeters)
The math should be tan (angle) = height/length so tan(4°) = X/4 which gives 0.2797

I suspect some vehicles commonly used in the UK would use a straight axle and therefore require a caster shim. I suggest you check with some truck alignment shops. A caster shim is not a brand proprietary part. Length should not be a factor, only width and the width could be altered.
I am going to have a chat with an old boy who does Land Rovers on Monday, see what that brings up.
Given the simplicity of them though It may be as easy to make from scratch as alter.
Thanks for the help.
