I don't like the 20"s on my 2018 stx, I would like to trade them off for some 17's or 18's. I will go with oem wheels; but when looking on craigslist or marketplace I see that people either remove the tpms or they still have it. If I buy a set that still has tpms will it talk to my truck or do I have to move the sensors from my current rims so that it will keep in contact with the truck?
I just switched my non-peeling 18" PVD wheels for 20" Platinum wheels and installed new OEM tpms sensors I got off fleabay . No programming, nothing. They work perfectly without doing a thing.
I also switched form 20 to 18. It's a truck that is used off-road a bit and I wanted the sidewall. And I'm not a huge fan of low sidewalls on a truck either.
The only thing I will mention is the load rating of the 20inch wheels is higher so if you have a max tow equipped truck and plan to keep the same axle load rating keep the 20's. Also 35x12.5R20 fit and give plenty of sidewall.

Tires are XL rated and have plenty of sidewall for me. It's a highway queen.
Thanks for the replys. It sounds like whenever I find a set that I'll probably try to move my tpms over. As for keeping the 20's, I just have never been a fan of the larger rims.

I didn't see it mentioned that the 2015+ was the last sensor frequ. change. Everything from 2015 -2019 all use the same sensors. When mounted they should learn themselves after a few miles.

Not what I run into, I just swapped my 20" rims and tires from my 2015 to 18" rims and tires from a 2017. At first they all read 37psi, I then tried a reset as outlined in the owners manual, didn't work. Now I'm getting the fault code and no reading on any tire. Dealer tells me they're probably different frequencies.
Just an update from two years ago; I found a set of factory18" rims that I wanted and swapped them out. They were equipped with tpms and I rolled the dice and installed them without swapping the tpms and they talked to my truck within a few revolutions of leaving the tire shop!
