Starting trouble

I recently posted this in the wrong forum.
I have been having trouble with a starting issue...not all the time...just every so often, but it’s getting more frequent.
Cranks fine but sometimes it won’t start...like it’s not getting any spark.
I can’t figure it out. Any one else have this issue?
I have had many helpful responses.
I’ll check all of them.
Just thought I’d put this in the right forum.

Does the red theft light flash when this happens?

If it does it's your key that's the problem.

Have the spark plugs ever been changed? How many miles on them?

I’m not sure I bought the truck from a private party and have had it for a couple years. The truck has close to 115000 on it.
I have maintained it ever since I got it. Regular oil changes, radiator flush, transmission flush, fuel filter etc..
I thought doing a full tune up.

when you put your key in the ignition, and turn to ON, ( not start), you should hear the fuel pump run for 3 seconds, and also see the THEFT light on the dash light up......... after 3 seconds, the pump stops running since it has built up pressure, and the THEFT Light goes out since the computer has recognized your CHIP key...... If you have an aftermarket key, or other PASS problems, the THEFT light might not go out... If it NEVER goes out, then the truck will not start.

The key contains a capsule RFID module and they are known to get damaged on early trucks. The issue was solved with a different key design in 2004.

I didn’t know I had a “ chip” key...looks like a regular key to me. I did however get a new remote opener for the truck. Looks exactly the same as the original. The key I have is the original key. Can it go bad?

if the key is bad, then the THEFT light on the dash will not go out after the 3 second time.

Ok, if it is bad, how do I go about finding out if it is? And how do I rectify the problem?
