351 swap
So I have a 1995 f150 5.0 with a 4 speed auto (3 speed w o/d) my transmission code on the door panel is u but not quite sure what that means in terms of figuring out what I can bolt up to that trans. Have 3.08 gear ratio so I wanna throw more motor at it and it should **** n git.....thoughts ?

That has to go before you do anything else, get 3.73 or 4.10 gears in it and you won't recognize the truck.

Thanks guys I was wondering about my gear ratios too. Then it's just either building another small block or building the 302 that's in it. Just starting to get digging into this stuff myself. hard to know what parts are gonna be copatable with each other so I'm sure I'll be on here a lot more

Keep it simple. Get lower gears as suggested by Conanski, and build a 351w. You'll regret putting the same time, effort, and money into a 302. There are tons of great threads on this forum people doing this exact swap. Good luck!

Swamped 302 to 351 now have rough idle any ideas also studder at 1500 rpms

Swamped 302 to 351 now have rough idle any ideas also studder at 1500 rpms.. tried swapped Ecu to 351 turned over but never fired any ideas what could be causing rough idle?
