Ignition, no spark
1987 Ford van, 4.9 engine. I have replaced the ignition coil, the ignition module on the distributer and still have no spark. There is power to the coil when the ignition is turned on. I suspect maybe the pickup coil in the distributer or the ECM, any suggestions out there? Any help would really be appreciated.

I does sound like the pickup coil could be the problem since you replaced the other components. Also, check your wiring. There could be a chaffed cut in the line or it could be shorting on the block somewhere. Good luck.

The pickup coil is nothing more than a wire wound coil so it can be tested with an ohm meter. Usually around 600 to 900 ohms across the 2 terminals that are parallel to each other in the connector going to the dist. Connector disconnected.
