Hello all, I have a 2000 f150. About 3 years ago I noticed weird electrical problems with my truck. The heater would stay on after taking the keys out of the ignition, windows going up and down without pushing buttons. After much research I found out that the windshield was leaking and water was entering then GEN module. A couple weeks ago, I started throwing error codes and after scanning them found cylinders 1 and 2 to have defective coil packs. I replaced them and the codes returned a couple days later. After spraying water on the truck I saw water leaking through into the engine compartment between the windshield and engine compartment. It was leaking specifically at components mounted to the back of the engine compartment. I took the trim piece off and sprayed flex seal inside to seal off all the holes and screws sticking through the engine compartment. I would like to know if anyone else has had any issues with water intrusion on there fords. thanks for reading- Andrew
Sometimes it is the welting material between the cowl and the rear of the hood that allows water to drip onto the rear portion of the engine. When you replaced the COPs on cyl 1 & 2, did you look down in the hole to see if there was any water/coolant/oil down in the well?
I had water seep in through the windshield. I just pulled the seal back slightly on the body side not glass side, washed the area to get some dirt out. This so the sealer would work. Waited a couple of hot days for the area to dry. Then I applied Permatex Flowable Silicone to reseal around the windshield. Two years ago and still good. https://www.permatex.com/products/ad...-glass-sealer/
