Carburetor Setups?
FWIW, if you decide to buy the Summit carb here's a good book:

Finding info on the Holley 4010 is hard to come by. The Summit carb was based on the Holley 4010 which was in turn based on the Motorcraft 4100.
This is more less correct. Some of the same engineers (there were 3 of them IIRC) that designed the 4100 Autolite did the 4010/4011 for Holley.
As side note they also worked on the Autolite inline carb that used many 2100/4100 components. The inline carbs were incredibly simple and fully tune-able. It is unfortunate they arrived just at the very end of the Ford Performance era and were never fully developed. It is a design that really needs to be revisited.
The 4010/4011 had a much lower part count and simpler construction and better efficiency than the conventional Holley carb so Holley was convinced to take a stab at redesigning the 4100 for their use. .
The 4100 carb is one of the best 4bbl's ever made period. It just never gained traction cause it was only made in 2 CFM configurations 480 and 600 The 4010/4011 had 2 castings early and late. Initially the 4010/4011 had some issues most notably the casting was too heavy in some areas and this lead to excessive heat retention and vapour lock issues especially in non Ford Applications.. The later castings were lighted up and were better able to shed heat, Most all 4010/4011 operational issues can be traced to this problem. This also applies to the Summit M2008 carbs. The early summit M2008 carbs had some QA QC issues but this has since been resolved but they can be subject to the same vapour lock issues, again mostly in non Ford applications. This is easily rectified with the use of a phenolic carb spacer or at the bare minimum fiber/paper spacer and should be considered SOP with these carbs.
The Annular discharge boosters of 4100, 4010/4011 allow for more accurate fuel delivery and more responsiveness. Since none these carbs were never overly popular and they are not tuned in the same manner as conventional Holleys people have issues setting them up This in part why you get a manual with the Summit M2008 carb. Once these carbs are set up and tuned in they never have to be touched again for the most part, with the low parts count and simple operation and design they are exceedingly reliable and can digest insane amounts of crud (far more than the Carter/Edelbrock or Holley) before going wrong.
