I need to replace the vent window weatherstripping. 1979 F100 - any sugestions on vendors. There seems to be a large different in price from several places I have looked. Would like imput on quality, price, etc of what any one else has used.
I've used a variety of weatherstripping on all types of vehicles. with generally good results. I only use 3M weatherstrip adhesive for glue-in applications and I think that helps too - it's good stuff.
Sorry I can't say for the vent windows, but when I re-did the door weatherstripping on my 79 as part of my low-budget "resto", I just went went with JC Whitney for the weatherstripping. Turns out that it was SofSeal stripping that I got, made for that particular application - not the universal type. It installed very well (glue-in type). Boy what a difference over the universal whatever it was the previous owner had installed (once I cleaned up the ton of cheap glue that was smeared everywhere).
Has anyone use BroncoGraveyard weatherstripping or other parts - they appear to have the best price on vent window weatherstripping. The parts store in top right corner does not offer the stripping for 79. Thanks again for any responses
Yes, I have bought a number of items for my truck from JBG, including body/trim and electrical stuff. Quality and delivery was fine - no complaint at all.
I put JCWhitney weather stipping in my vent windows when we re-did my truck. It's a pretty good fit, maybe a little big, and it makes the vent windows a bear to get closed. I usually ended up having to open the window and push in from the outside to close them. ( I was a little paranoid about breaking the handle off the window, since I did it once before and they cant really be fixed... )
I just bought the complete weather stripping kit for my 73 250 4x4 from *** Ford truck parts, just finished the door and window seals etc. I was very impressed with the quick service and very reasonable prices and the items where very well made, they had in their catolog, found several items I could not find any where else. Might punch them up and check their site, just another place to find these hard to FIND items for our beloved FORD Tanks.
Thanks, Don.
To my knowledge, there was no way to fix that broken handle. Mine broke off at the little stud, and I could see no means of repair , even after I took the glass out. I ended up going to the junkyard and getting a whole new frame. I looked at it for quite a while and I couldn't figure any way to fix it.
