Hello a few years ago I did and efuel conversion on my 95 with an airdog setup. They didn't make one at the time to fit my truck so I retro fitted the superduty kit. Since I have done it I haven't been terribly impressed. It is noisy and it doesn't seem to hold much pressure. Also I am going on the third time of the pump going out. Each time I have to wait to get a new pump and the filters are not readily available. Anyhow I would like to just replace the pump and filters with a setup that just uses the stock superduty pump. My question is has anyone done this. I don't need to replace the whole system but I am guessing that when I do the pump I will need to replace the relay with the correct bosch relay. I already have the regulated return, the wiring and the fuel supply lines in place for the airdog. I'm hoping I can just replace the pump and filter setup. Please let me know your thoughts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would fix the Airdog again and sell it. I have never heard anything good about their pumps...also had no clue the filters were specific to that platform. I almost put one on the old 6.4 figuring the pump issues were gone with the AD, guess not. Most were going with the 'FASS' brand I think before going to huge stuff like the A1000 from Aeromotive.
My kit from Mark Fugazzotto works great and priced right for my needs. Probably could supply 450-500rwhp I would guess, has a proven Walbro 255 pump in it. TRE makes a great pump too if in a pinch.
Yeah the only part of the kit that I would be able to sell would be the pump assembly. I had to hack and retrofit everything else. That is why I was hoping someone else has done the same thing it seems to me that I could still use all the other parts and just replace the pump and filters with another set up that uses parts that might be more available to get my hands on. Especially something like the pump that will leave a guy stranded on the side of the road.
On the few systems I've installed (kits) I like the "Bar None Diesel" filter packs with pump assembly. Unfortunately they don't offer just that in the kits, they want to sell you the entire system. That being said you could call them or e-mail and see if they bite. I like the 30 micron pre-filter and 2 micron post filter The neat thing is pump is mounted on a bracket away from the main frame bracket where the filters are mounted and there is rubber insulating mounts around the pump. This means the pump is extremely quiet when running.
Of course you could make your own and go that route. Just make sure the pump is somehow insulated from the frame for vibration and noise issues as they vibrate good when running.
