Installed the Mid Fifty seat belt anchor plates. Saved a bunch of time by not having to make my own but they did need some trimming as expected. Covered the area in sound deadening material then welded in the plates, looks good.
After much reaserching on forums and YouTube it seems there are cheaper alternatives to the well known expensive sound deadening materials. One being ‘Peal and Seal’ from Lowes at around $16.50 for a 6” by 25’ roll. So I’m going with that. Ialso used a contact adhesive to help bond it to the inner panels and so far it looks great!!
It looks like your top channel is more parallel to the bottom channel than in my truck. I wonder if mine was a one-off "Friday afternoon", or if maybe this is a piece where you might find variations from plant to plant. My 1949 F1 was made in Richmond, CA. Anyway, I had to do a fair amount of slice and dice to make it work. Was not happy about that and almost called Mid-Fifty. But then I wanted to make sure to get some support from rounded window channel as well as the top and bottom channels, so more cutting was a given anyway. Plus having something that was sort of a close fit did save a lot of time. I was not fully comfortable with support from just the top and bottom channel since in my opinion it is about one step above paper as far as support. I'm thinking at 45 mph crash, a 200 pound driver, and then shoulder support could tear loose. Anyway some pics. For Leon: Sound deadener I used Dynamat I got for free. Also using the Russian stuff NOICO I got from eBay.
