need rear suspension help
when i put a couple hundred lbs on the bed it sags more than it
should, would some good hd shocks fix it. or would i need shocks and
leaf springs? i was thinking of looking for some good air shocks to adjust
pressure. i still have the same shocks that it have with stock ride height
do i need to look for lowered shocks
Air shocks are an answer in some cases, but the shock mounts in most vehicles are not designed to carry as much weight as the shocks can transfer to them.
Air bags would be another answer. Those are on the axle like so:

Standard shocks control suspension movement and do not bear weight. Some shocks have coils on them as "overload" springs, but you run into some of the same issues as air shocks.
As long as your shocks are not bottoming out or topping out, they are ok length wise.
Either more leaf spring and stiffer ride or make an over load spring that only comes into play with weight added to the bed.
The best bet is air bag to carry the weight. Look into the camper / trailer area.
They do bags on most of the new trucks because they are made to ride like a car and cant carry the weight any more.
