hey y'all, been stalking this site for a while now. i have a 300 inline 6 that I'm working on now, truck was originally my grandpas, that hasn't run since 1992. carb and fuel lines were pretty much garbage. so offy C intake and holley sniper arrive tomorrow! transmission should be done sometime this weekish. so anything in particular to look out for on this first crank? thanks in advance.
So went over the motor last night and tightened what I could and pulled spark plugs put MMO in the cylinders and turned it by hand. Under the valve cover and push rod cover everything was moving pretty good no milky oil or anything. Going over the wiring today to see what’s been chewed up rats and all that. Exhaust and intake manifolds are coming off today and I removed Egr and air pump yesterday. Hopefully it fires and just needs gaskets and seals here and there but I guess we will see. Truck was parked after a blown transmission and then just say until I got my hands on it last month.
Just got done dropping the tank now and there was gas in it still from when gas was around $1 a gallon! The Holley sniper kit comes with new line and pump for the 58ish pounds of pressure it needs to operate. Gonna clean up the tank tomorrow and get the offy intake seated. Put some MMO down the spark plug holes. Oil on the dipstick looked cleaner than my excursions!
got the offy installed and the holley sniper sits on it beautifully! can't wait to get my transmission back to see how it runs. well after i plumb the fuel system and put the tank back up. just waiting on a sending unit right now and of course its not in stock.
doing the wiring tomorrow and one thing i need to figure out is a 12 volt switched source that is still on while cranking. any help would be greatly appreciated.
