So, I purchased the remote start to install in my 17 SD at the beginning of winter. Issues with lights upon install, so I contacted 12volt solutions and was advised to either modify the harness or they would ship me one already modified. OK. Ship me one. Had to wait for it, but once received, everything works nicely.
Ordered the high idle and installed. No issues.
Decided I wanted the cellular add on. I ordered it, followed instructions, but wouldn't work. contacted support and was asked to take a photo of the harness to verify install. Confirmed all was good. zip tied everything up to keep it out of the way. next day, was advised they would contact Car Link to open a ticket. Over the span of the next week, I photo of the remote start module was requested and sent. days pass, another request for a photo of the cellular module was requested and sent. days pass. Another request for a photo of the remote module... "I already sent you this" Response - "oh yea, I missed that.".
After over a week, Car Link verified the module had the wrong software. They sent me a new module. I installed, and all works now.
My frustration - Having to cut down the wiring and modules to get pics 4 times. It took over a week to identify wrong software.
I emailed and expressed my concern. 1. they should have record of the stuff they are selling and what is actually installed. 2. respond faster, OR send out a new module sooner. 3. No even "we are sorry for the issues".
No response to that email.
All small stuff, but it adds up. It's simple customer service, especially spending nearly $500 for self installed stuff. I could have spent that on a shop installed and let them deal with it, in the event of any issues. It would have been likely resolved much quicker.
Just wanted to share my experience.
Yes sometimes the aftermarket is problematic Especially with electrical that must interface with the vehicles systems. Always frustrating when multiple issues are encountered as just about all aftermarket electronics ultimately come from China. Been there done that in the past.
I bought 2 units from them- one for my super duty and one for my wife's jeep. Mine was seamless, my wife's was a PITA. They said they had never sold one for that model and therefore didn't have instructions. The harness had mutiple plugs, the first harness was defective, etc. I had to figure the thing out myself. The guys there were more than willing to help--it was just getting ahold of them initially that was the problem. Seems like a couple young guys started a business out of their basement that may have grown beyond their capability to handle it themselves. Overall happy with the units though.
Just installed a remote start for my 2019 F250. Had similar issues with product not working and frankly them blaming me, at least that is how I took it. Exclamation points on emails and verbiage in general. Once I got their attention they were quick to send out a replacement kit and it works great. I think they are having growing pains along with outsourcing their manufacturing. Contact them through the contact section on their website or on their Facebook page. Hope they get their collective selves together or someone is going to take the business away from them. No patents and an easy item to create (With all the engineers out there) and sell with better service. Good luck. Look forward to hearing that they sent you a new kit and that it works.
I've installed two of them, one had no instructions and took getting a hold of them was a challenge. I ended up figuring it out from a bunch of videos of other cars my self before they got back to me. My Wife's van had instructions that were not complete but figured it out again from videos. Their plug n Play system is nice, they just need to spend the time to provide instructions and keep them up to date, especially for the price.

I agree, mine works fine too...........but on the module itself it says "Flash Logic" or something like that, but any way, the flash logic units are on e-bay for $100 less. Hmmmmmmm

Mine works fine now. My issues is just the poor service. Taking a week is just not acceptable, especially when they don't even respond with a "We're sorry...".

LOL......Should be expected because most vendors just but their name or branding on it, make it seem exclusive to a brand which in this case is Ford, and raise the price.
